Things to Do in Roma Norte: Seven Places We Send Our Guests

Quick answer

The best things to do in Roma Norte are on foot: a morning on Plaza Río de Janeiro by the copy of Michelangelo's David, bread from Elena Reygadas' bakery at Rosetta on Colima, dinner at Máximo on Álvaro Obregón, contemporary art at Galería OMR (Córdoba 100) and Casa Lamm (Álvaro Obregón 99), and dried chiles at Mercado Medellín. Rosetta and Máximo are each about a five-minute walk from our townhouse at Tonalá 53.

Roma Norte rewards a slow walk more than a fast one. These are the seven places we send people to most from our townhouse at Tonalá 53, in roughly the order we'd do them on a first day: a plaza for the morning, a bakery, two galleries, a market, and a table for dinner. None of them need a car. Most need comfortable shoes and an empty afternoon.

We've kept the list short on purpose. Roma Norte has more cafés and shops than anyone could cover in a week, and the fastest way to miss it is to try. Pick two or three of these, leave gaps between them, and let the side streets fill the rest.

One practical note before you go: if you'd like a table at Máximo or Rosetta, tell us the night when you book or as soon as you arrive. Our concierge can try for a reservation, and the earlier we ask, the better our chances.
